Prairie Enemy bullets feature nickel-plated cases for reliable feeding, especially inside a semi-auto rifle or AR platform. We have thousands of these rounds for our mini 14s and they shoot well at 100yds, 200yds, function perfectly in ruger magazines and are explosive on soft targets. Midway sells ballistic gel reasonably. A perfect round for civil unrest, government over reach and other Varmints. Only used twice on Varmints so far but both were explosive hits that had intestines hanging out of the exit hole. The only issue has been out of 20 boxes newly arrived this week 3 boxes only had 18 rounds in them each. No response from Sierra yet.

I was bought 300 rounds of this ammo to try in my AR platform rifles for rabbit hunting. I was at the local range today sighting in my Bushmaster SBR with an 11.5 barrel, I was getting good 1.5 inch groups at 25 meters with standard 55 grain 5.56 FMJ ammo. I had brought a couple of boxes of the Sierra Prairie Enemy just to try, and after sighting in with standard 5.56 and getting tight groups, I shot 10 rounds of the Sierra. I got a group the size of a dinner plate at 25 meters, maybe 10-12 inches across. I was very surprised and confused. I reloaded with standard 55 grain 5.56 FMJ and shot another 10 rounds, reloaded again and shot another 10 rounds. Both times my groups were about 1.5 inches with iron sights. I bought this ammo because I’m having a hard time finding 5.56 ammo in my local sporting goods stores, most times the shelves are empty. This may be good ammo if used for a different purpose, but it didn’t work well in my SBR. I’m only giving one star because of this, I think the first review was from a guy shooting a bolt action rifle and I believe he had better groups.

I got 1000 rounds here which was a recommendation from a friend. I planned on taking my factory Remington 700 (.223Rem, 24″ barrel, 1-12″ twist) on an upcoming varmint hunt. I couldn’t have been more pleased with the performance. I nearly shot the whole first box just seeing how tight it would shoot. I consistently got 5 shots under an inch at 100 yards. Many times with holes touching. I haven’t shot it through a semi, but bolt gun performance was impressive. While I didn’t have luck on the hunt, my friend did and the terminal performance kept up with the accuracy I experienced. I would definitely recommend and will buy again.

Does exactly as advertised. Hit the critter, the critter is dead. Period.
